Twice each year, the PLCS Foundation delivers shelf stable snacks to nurse and social worker stations at 22 schools across the district. These snacks provide immediate support for students who need it most, helping remove barriers so they can stay focused on learning.
This most recent round of deliveries took place this month and was made possible through the Anders Food Fund, with support from a generous grant from the CL Werner Foundation. These twice yearly deliveries ensure nurses and social workers have reliable access to shelf stable snacks when students need them.
Beyond snack deliveries, the Anders Food Fund supports students and families facing food insecurity through multiple initiatives across the district. These include a weekly backpack program that provides fresh food bags to 160 elementary students, as well as holiday meals for students and their families. Together, these efforts offer consistent and reliable support during times of need.
Founded in 1986, the PLCS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding what’s possible for PLCS students. Through programs like the Anders Food Fund, the Foundation addresses basic needs and helps ensure students have the support they need to learn and thrive.
