The PLCS Foundation officially launched Growing Up Greater, a bold, community-driven campaign to fund the new PLCS Community Engagement Center in downtown Papillion. This $10 million initiative reflects our shared vision for what’s possible when an entire community comes together to support students and families.
A Community-Wide Resource in the Heart of the District
Conveniently located within the historic PLCS Central Office Campus, the two-story, 18,000 square foot facility will feature state-of-the-art spaces designed to improve programs that enhance educational success.
- PLCS Community Closet: Since opening in 2021, the Community Closet has offered free clothing and hygiene products to students experiencing poverty. It assisted 694 families in its first year and rose to nearly 1,000 families in 2024.
- Kids Club Headquarters: Kids Club is the PLCS Foundation’s before- and after-school care program that is offered in all 16 PLCS elementary schools. It serves 1,300 elementary students annually with high-quality care while offering teens meaningful, paid jobs and valuable mentoring experiences.
- Event and Training Center: The new Center will offer flexible spaces for large and small PLCS staff workshops. It will also provide community activity space for graduation parties, class reunions, and community events.
- PLCS Foundation Offices: The Foundation was established by community volunteers in 1986. It is committed to supporting student needs beyond public funding. It will have space dedicated to highlighting PLCS’s rich history through preserved school artifacts.
The PLCS Community Engagement Center is more than a building project — it’s a long-term investment in our children, our families, and our community’s future. Fundraising is underway and we're making great progress toward our $10M goal. We invite support from local businesses, foundations, educators, alumni, and friends who believe in the power of education and community.
