PLCS Foundation’s 2025 Swing for Kids Golf Fundraiser raised more than $74,000 for PLCS students —a record-breaking year for the annual event. The fundraiser took place June 10 at Tiburon Golf Club. The sold-out event attracted over 200 golfers and community sponsors, along with employee volunteers from Google and Farm Credit Services of America.
Honorary Starters Connie and Bob Bowne made the ceremonial first swing. From education and military service to community leadership, the Bownes have spent decades serving the Papillion community. Strong believers in the power of education, they established the Connie and Bob Bowne Scholarship Endowment with the PLCS Foundation in 2024. This scholarship helps PLCS graduates achieve their educational goals, extending the couple’s legacy of service to the next generation.
The Swing for Kids Golf Committee was co-chaired by Mark Vanderheiden of Gina V Physical Therapy and Bonnie Moore from Sarpy County. Other committee members included Bret Abels of Schumacher Elevator; Skip Bailey of UNO; Seth Hievely, PLCS principal; Spencer Kimball of Pinnacle Bank–Papillion; Andrew Miller of Terracon; and Sara Morrow of Northwest Bank.
Proceeds from the event support the foundation’s mission to enhance educational opportunities for PLCS students that would not otherwise be possible, funding programs such as sixth-grade outdoor education, scholarships, summer reading, and middle school tutoring.
