Longtime Papillion residents Connie and Bob Bowne are the honorary starters for this year’s Swing for Kids Golf Fundraiser. The Bownes have been deeply involved in the Papillion community for decades—serving, volunteering, and advocating for public education. Their selection as honorary starters recognizes a lifetime of dedication to students, families, and local service.
The Bownes have spent decades giving back to the Papillion community. Connie served on the PLCS Board of Education from 2011 to 2018 and is a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Bob, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and commander of Springfield American Legion Post 143, spent his career supporting defense and intelligence systems through his work with major defense contractors. Strong believers in the power of education, the couple established the Connie and Bob Bowne Scholarship Endowment with the PLCS Foundation in 2024 that will help PLCS graduates achieve their educational dreams—extending their legacy of service to the next generation of students. Their dedication to students and families continues to shape opportunities across the district.
Each year, the Swing for Kids Golf Fundraiser brings together more than 200 golfers and community members to raise funds for PLCS students. The 39th annual event will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Tiburon Golf Club. Registration opens at 10:00 AM, followed by an 11:00 AM shotgun start. Boyd Jones will once again serve as the presenting sponsor.
